PLANKY DON
Jermaine Sinclair, known by his artist name Planky, entered the world in Montego Bay, Jamaica, specifically in Tucker, on December 13th, 1983.
At just 13 years old, Planky found inspiration in the musical genius of his grand uncle, the legendary
Lee Scratch Perry, igniting his own passion for music.
Born alongside his twin to Angela Moore, he grew up as the fourth of seven siblings. He ventured into the realms of DJing, singing, and becoming a reggae artist, absorbing guidance from local talents and honing his craft through performances at various community stages, including renowned venues like The Guinness Rd show and Pier 1 in Montego Bay. His talent didn’t go unnoticed, earning him features in the esteemed Jamaica Mirror Newspaper.
In 2006, Planky embarked on a new chapter by relocating to Toronto, Canada, where he adopted the title “Box Dem General” to complement his artist name, signifying the impact his music has on listeners.
Since then, he has graced numerous stages, sharing platforms with luminaries like Kranium and Baby Cham, and leaving his mark at events like Woodbine Fest 2016, where his performance shared the spotlight with
Nesbeth. Putting in the groundwork, Planky has released a series of acclaimed mix CDs, including “Open the 6,” mixed by Nitro Sound, “Epic,” mixed by DJ Suparific, and his latest masterpiece, “The Uprising,” also mixed by Nitro Sound. Collaborating closely with his partner in music and life, Empress Leh, under their self-made banner “Strike1Promo,” Planky strives to elevate PlankyMusic to new heights.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Planky actively engages with his growing fan base through live videos, freestyles, and humorous skits, promoting his music and event appearances. He’s on the streets of Toronto, forging connections, selling mix CDs, and performing for the city’s elite, with the ultimate goal of becoming a household name. Planky takes pride in crafting music that resonates with families while asserting his ability to make powerful statements when necessary. Continuously evolving and learning, Planky is focused on producing captivating visuals for his music, poised to leave behind a legacy of timeless reggae and dancehall tunes.
